The Shutdown of TheFlyingKnee.Com

It is with mixed feelings that I announce the shutdown of TheFlyingKnee.Com. The shutdown will take place on October 15, 2012. I would like to thank the loyal subscribers who have helped keep the game going, for bringing ideas to the table, and for notifying me off issues as they occur.

I first developed TheFlyingKnee.Com as a text-based MMA simulation game over 10 years ago, during my spare time (before and after work, as well as during lunch breaks). The game was developed out of my interest in MMA, and my desire to keep my programming skills up to date. I then decided to take it a step further and add graphics/animation, making TheFlyingKnee.Com the first animated online MMA game. Whether text or animated, my goal for the game was to achieve as much realism as feasibly possible for a one-man operation. Everything including fighter attributes, fighter training, fighter conditioning, fight sequences, and judging was thoroughly researched and implemented accordingly.

A lot has changed in my life since I first started the project, and over the past two years, I simply did not have the time to maintain and enhance the game at a pace I have in the past.

Again, I would like to thank the loyal subscribers/supporters of TheFlyingKnee.Com.

Can Anyone Stop the "Cowboy"?

Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone has arrived. After winning the WFC Title for the first time, "Cowboy" successfully defended his title two times in a row, becoming the first repeat and three-peat WFC Champion! Now the question has to be asked: Can anyone stop the "Cowboy"?

We spoke with Bas Rutten about the possibility of anyone dethrowning "Cowboy". "You know, it's going to be tough, but nothing is impossible. He's obviously a good striker as he managed to KO every one of his opponents in the last tournament." said Rutten. "If you want to beat him, you need to take him to the mat, and try to submit him or ground and pound him."

So can anyone stop the "Cowboy"? Tune in for this Sunday's tournament and find out!

First Ever Repeat WFC Champion!

Congratulations to Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone for not only winning Sunday's 128-Fighter Championship Tournament, but for becoming the first ever WFC Champion to successfully defend his title in a tournament! It wasn't easy as the tournament was a huge 128-Fighter tournament. "Cowboy" worked his way through the tournament, putting away 4 by KO, 1 by submission, and 2 via hard-fought decisions. "Cowboy" was pitted against Chung Le "The Asian Destroyer" in the final, and the two fought a stand-up battle for all three rounds. In the end, the "Cowboy" won via unanimous decision!

Fighter Physical Traits

Currently, fighters in the WFC do not have any physical traits. However, that will change with the upcoming release. In addition to the introduction of fighter training, fighters will also be issued physical traits, such as height, weight, and reach. Although weight classes will not be introduced in this upcoming release, it will be in the release after that. Your fighter's physical traits will eventually determine what weight class your fighter will be able to fight in. Note that the weight generated will be the weight that the fighter normally walks around in; not his fighting weight. Thus, a fighter who is 175 can cut weight down to fight in the 155 division.

Much more to come so stay tuned!

WFC Championship Tournament Recap

Congratulations to Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone for FINALLY winning the title! "Cowboy" had entered numerous tournaments, working his way through several opponents before being ousted one way or another. Although he had always been a tough competitor, he fell short on all previous occassions. Now the newly crowned WFC Openweight Champion, "Cowboy" will have an opportunity to defend the prestigious title!

Website Problems

We apologize for the recent website connectivity issues. This has caused our site to go down from time to time, as well as the fight engine to go down from time to time. This is a direct result of our crappy webhost vendor (webhost4life.com), which we will NEVER deal with again. Not only have they been unable to meet their uptime guarantee, but their quality of service is severely lacking, and their tech support staff is unable to resolve issues. We will be switching to a new host in the coming week, which will likely resolve these issues.

Thank you for your patience!

WFC Championship Tournaments

As mentioned in a previous post, Will "The Skill" Sweitzer had an opportunity to make WFC history by becoming both the first 3-time WFC champion, as well as becoming the first champion to successfully defend his belt. So would "The Skill" seize the opportunity? As it turns out, "The Skill" had a tough road to the championship match and wasthisclosetomakinghistory! Unfortunately for "The Skill", he fell short, tapping out to an armbar, courtesy of the new WFC Champ, Bj Styles Kay!

Bj Styles Kay made his way through the tournament in exciting fashion, finishing off each of his opponents with KOs or submissions. Bj looks like a tough competitor - will he be the first to repeat as champion? Check back this Saturday and find out!

WFC Championship Tournaments

Congratulations to previous champs, "Forrest Griffin." and "Rich No , Love Clementi" for winning the title. However, the new champion is Will "The Skill" Sweitzer! "The Skill" went into the record books as one of the few two-time WFC champions.

Although there have been a few two-time WFC champions, there has never been a three-time champion. In addition, there has never been a champ to successfully defend his belt for a second consecutive tournament. Should "The Skill" win this next tournament. he will be in the record books for both of those distinctions.

As much as possible, we will be targeting championship tournaments on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so be sure to sign up!

WFC Fighter Training

We have completed the specifications for Fighter Training and development is underway! Realistically, it will be available early March, but it should be worth the wait. This won't be as simple as clicking a "Train Strength" button to increase your strength. Instead, you will have to come up with a training schedule for your fighter, selecting from numerous training activities. Certain activities may be more productive than others, and your fighter's work ethic will also play a role in how productive training is. You could have a tough fighter, but if he's not going to train like a champ, he won't reach his full potential. In addition, fighters who train like full-time fighters will generally become better than fighters who train like part-timers.

In general, there are many aspects to fighter training, and we won't provide you with the underlying details. That, you will have to figure out for yourself.

Training is right around the corner. Bear with us!
